Texas presidents and vice had rocky Star.
In the early Republic of Texas Sam Houston clashed with Vice President Mirabeau B. Lamar, opposing visions for Texas as independent or in the Union. Lamar spent time traveling and writing while Houston pushed for quick state entry into the United States. Burnet and Zavala also clashed before and after Houston, with Burnet later leading the government as Lamar fell ill.
