Advocate argues cuts hit poor districts hardest in Texas case
An education finance advocate from Equity Center testified in a Texas trial that state budget cuts in 2003 disproportionately harmed poor and property-poor districts. He cited reductions in compensatory education and building funds, noting wealthy districts were not threatened. The trial, before a state district judge in Austin, aims to challenge Texas funding as unconstitutional for adequate education.
