Barclay On Bridge Rare play under ruff questioned
The column discusses the rare under ruff principle in bridge. It explains that a low card play can lure a higher card from defenders, enabling a setup for a later trick. An example shows South handling spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs under a misdirecting line to destroy the opponents’ timing and gain the needed ruffing trick. The Weekend Question asks readers to explain the under ruff concept and provide an example from declarer or defender.
