LC Not To Request Early Tax Payments
Lee College regents decided to drop the long standing practice of seeking advance tax payments from Humble Oil and Refining Co. The move, approved unanimously at the regular meeting, ends a method used to bolster finances until January taxes are due. Hobart W. Enoch had suggested the change to streamline tax procedures and ease overdraft charges of about 500 to 2000 dollars from September to January. Trustee E. L. Gunn opened the discussion, arguing the college would be using money it does not legally hold.

Baytown officials discussed tapping unallocated utility tax funds potentially totaling $100,000 over two years.
