Ward Confident Ahead Of Stranahan Semi Final Clash
MINNEAPOLIS John Ward a shy Clay New York attorney predicted an interesting match after shooting a 66 in practice as he prepared to face heavy favorite Frank Stranahan in the National Amateur Golf Tournament semi finals. Stranahan the British Amateur champion from Toledo Ohio is widely seen as the man to beat and push for a 1950 slam. Bil Martin the 12 year old from Houston Texas starred in the Little League World Series with two straight no hit games guiding his team to a 3 0 win over Westerly Rhode Island. He had earlier no hit San Diego in regional play. A Hoover report notes a crime occurred every 187 seconds in the United States in 1948.
