Roy J. France, longtime Humble Oil and Refining Co. driller, retires after 27 years with 24 transfers. A party will honor him Tuesday at the Tower Dining Room with friends from Baytown, Houston, and scattered Texas and Louisiana locations. Starting in 1928 at Jacksonville, he worked in Kilgore, Arp, London, Mykawa, East Texas fields, O’Connor near Corpus Christi, Conroe, Roanoke, Dickinson, Hastings, and Louisiana sites such as Lizette Bayou Blue and Paraisis. Since 1946 he has drilled in Galveston Bay and Goose Creek. France, a rotary driller, has earned four coin-your-idea awards while with Humble.

Man Dies When Car Rams Train at Market Street Crossing
