Investors take profits on mixed earnings and oil gain
New York stocks edged lower after a five day rally as higher oil prices and disappointing results from Lowe’s dampened sentiment. Lowe’s posted an 11 percent rise in quarterly profit but cut its full year outlook, while Iran’s nuclear ambitions lifted oil to 72.52 a barrel. Homebuilders and airlines fell as energy costs cloud growth.
