Seaman Lewis R. Parker, son of Mr and Mrs John W Parker of 2303 Wright Blvd Baytown, serves aboard the destroyer escort USS Mel Morris in an anti infiltration patrol off South Vietnam. The ship’s boarding party inspects junks for signs of infiltration while naval gunfire support is a secondary mission. Parker’s first Seventh Fleet patrol fired three missions against Viet Cong strongholds. Airman 3C John A Batiste, also of Baytown, is set for training as an electrician at Holloman AFB New Mexico after basic at Lackland. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Theo Batiste of 701 Willow. Ronald G Robertson of Channelview earned early promotion to private E 2 after basic at Fort Polk for proficiency in fielding the M rifle and leadership potential. Robertson, son of Mr and Mrs J C Robertson of 15540 Ave C Channelview, is a Channelview High School graduate.
