Bond funded streets repair progress across districts
Voters approved an eleven point six million dollar city bond program funding mostly residential street repairs. District 5 leads with four point three million in work including one point eight million residential and two point five million non residential. District 4 has one point seven million with one point four residential and three hundred eleven thousand five hundred non residential. The last year emphasized thoroughfares in District 4 while early phases focused on homes. The council moved remaining funds to Kilgore Road and discussed a joint Harris County project but did not partner. Residential streets remain a priority as shellcrete roads from the 1950s and 60s deteriorate. District 2 allocated over three point five million with a need based approach. Districts 3 and 4 allotted about seven hundred seventy two thousand each for year four. Alley repairs drew debate but were approved.
