Oil plume lingers deep Gulf study says months to years
Researchers using high tech sensors mapped oil half a mile down in the Gulf noting slower degradation in cold water. They warn plumes could persist for months or years, with potential- impacts on deep dwelling fish and crustaceans as officials reassess biodegradation rates near BP's blown-out well off Louisiana.
