Baytonian Dies In U S Steel Texas Works Plant Accident
Baytown man Robert Nathan Francis aged 40 died at United States Steel Texas Works Plant in West Chambers County after contact with an energized circuit while a co-worker and he were changing a crane hoist brake. Plant management conducts the ongoing investigation into the cause. Francis had worked at the plant since December 1970.

Forecast calls for a fair and mild Monday with temperatures in the mid 70s. Tuesday turns partly cloudy and hot with mid to upper 90s and a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms. Overnight and early week records show a low of 78 and a high of 98 from Sunday into Monday.
Body Found in Ditch Near Dayton
A 63 year old Channelview area man Raymond Garner was found shot to death in a ditch about seven miles north of Dayton. Liberty County sheriff deputies treat the death as a homicide and say the victim was shot at least twice in the abdomen. A passing motorist sighted the body along Dayton Lakes Road near Dayton Lakes Estates around noon Saturday. Investigators believe the victim was killed elsewhere and dumped at the Dayton Lakes Estates site. Shell casings were found nearby but likely long ago.
