Marker Honors Spivey Family Link at Texas History Marker
The Texas Historical Society erected a marker at the site of the former Spivey town near Tenaha to honor the great great grandfather of Baytown resident J. T. Hickman. Spivey Station began in 1886 on the Houston East and West Texas Railroad, with a 1891 post office and a 1690 Friendship Baptist Church. The town declined after 1900, the cemetery shows 33 unmarked graves, and the marker was unveiled in ceremonies on June 18.
