La Porte Man Joins Gander Staff This Fall

Eugene Sharp of La Porte will join the Robert E. Lee High School coaching staff this fall. A former Mission High School coach and physical education teacher for six years, Sharp is a 1956 Lamar State College Beaufort graduate and football captain. He earned Texas College All-American honors in 1956 and was signed by the Detroit Lions that year. His career includes time in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Okinawa, Wake Island, Hawaii, Guatemala, and Mexico.

Sixteen girls were added to the Robert E. Lee High School Brigadiers as new inductees during the installation ceremony held this past weekend.
