Old Movies Shape New TV Plans Amid Familiar Concepts
The Sun's TeleScope reports a slow start to new network series with many adopting film reuses and familiar formats. NBC only renews a serious anthology, Slattery's People, while James Bond influences plots and even Mr Ed revamps as Cat-Oat-Seven. The trend shows multipart stories and Peyton Place style ensembles dominating, with creators repeating past successes rather than fresh concepts.
