Baytown Sees Surge in False Residential Alarms
Baytown police report a rise in alarm calls from 1364 in 2007 to 1969 in 2010 with residential false alarms at 97.87 percent in 2007 and 98.37 percent in 2010 while business alarms fell from 2395 to 2281 with false alarms dropping from 94.45 percent to 92.72 percent. Assistant Chief Mike Holden said each call requires two officers.

Twenty three Baytown high school students completed the Mayor and ExxonMobil Summer Youth Work Program. An awards luncheon at the Baytown Community Center honored top performers, led by De’Andre Durden and John Dyer. Baytown Girl Dies After Galveston Beach Wave Tragedy
A 12 year old Baytown girl Chelsea Roberts drowned at Galveston Beach on Saturday near 21st and Seawall as a large wave knocked a family from shore. The child was pulled from near 19th Street and the pier and pronounced dead at a local hospital. The family swam with four siblings and an adult when the wave struck.
