The City of Baytown will start three street repair projects next week causing traffic detours on North Main Street Garth Road and Baker Road. North Main will lose two northbound lanes and a left turn lane for one week. The second project on Garth Road SH 146 runs one week starting late August. Guilty plea in murder of Baytown veteran
Hollis Buckley of Baytown pleaded guilty to the capital murder of Vietnam veteran Barney Ross Goodman, 57, a local singer known as Barney Shane. The 21 year old Buckley and co-defendant Kenneth Dollery, 22, were arrested after Goodman was beaten, robbed, and left for dead on FM 2090 following a ride to cash his disability check. Goodman, a Marine veteran who survived shrapnel, cancer, and two wars, identified the assailants before slipping into a coma. Dollery remains not guilty. his Sept. 2 court date is set in Liberty County.
