The third on Baker Road closes outer lanes and a 3000 block section across from Valero for one week, with final wrap in early September. City urges drivers to slow and follow signs and calls Public Works at 281-420-5300 for details.
Hollis Buckley of Baytown pleaded guilty to the capital murder of Vietnam veteran Barney Ross Goodman, 57, a local singer known as Barney Shane. The 21 year old Buckley and co-defendant Kenneth Dollery, 22, were arrested after Goodman was beaten, robbed, and left for dead on FM 2090 following a ride to cash his disability check. Goodman, a Marine veteran who survived shrapnel, cancer, and two wars, identified the assailants before slipping into a coma. Dollery remains not guilty. his Sept. 2 court date is set in Liberty County.
