Reading Guide For Baytown Teachers Published
Five Baytown teachers with Dr Edward Pratt of Southern Methodist University have produced a district wide reading guide for seventh and eighth grade. This two year study yields 108 pages of teaching information and charts. The guide aims to bridge elementary reading and more advanced adult reading by outlining vocabulary skills, comprehension and speed, exposition, oral reading and narrative reading. It prescribes daily practice and weekly periods to build higher level word identification, cope with complex styles, and develop tract and assimilate exposition with evidence of rate and comprehension.
