Texas districts to get A F grades under new rating plan
Texas Education Agency will label districts with A F and campuses as met requirement or improvement required based on 2017 18 results. Campuses will be graded numerically now, with A F to start in 2019 amid concerns from Goose Creek CISD and others. Hurricane Harvey affected 109 districts eligible for special evaluation with not rated labels if criteria met. See page 3 for districts including Goose Creek Anahuac and Barbers Hill.

Keith Grace Jr Fundraiser raises 24000 for vet causes at Bayland Island
The South annual Keith Grace Jr Fundraiser at ONeals Pub on Bayland Island drew a crowd for crawfish music and raffles and raised about 24000 for military personnel and families. Half goes to the Boot Campaign and half to Veterans Helping Veterans local organizations.

Public hearing planned on I 10 FM 3180 upgrade in Chambers County
The Texas Department of Transportation will host an open house at 4 30 p m and hearing at 6 p m on Tuesday Aug 21 at the Eagle Pointe Recreation Complex in Mont Belvieu to present plans to reconfigure I 10 over FM 3180, widen FM 3180 to four lanes, and add signals at the intersection and frontage road over Cotton Bayou. Public input will be invited and questions answered during the open house.
