Cotton Textiles Hit New Low In Exports

Washington AP reports U S exports of cotton textiles last year fell to the lowest level since World War I, equaling 460 900 bales of raw cotton. Imports totaled 644 600 bales, widening the cotton trade deficit to 186 600 bales as exports slipped about 6 percent annually while imports rose about 22 percent. Higher domestic cotton prices and wage rates abroad contributed to the decline.
