Budget tensions rise as AISD to consider tax hike or bond
Anahuac ISD officials discuss possible tax increase or bond election at the August 10 meeting to address a $1.2 million drop in local property values from 2009 2010. The district cut four teaching positions saving about $100,000 while a state revenue bump of roughly $120 per student helped offset losses. Enrollment declined slightly to 1255 from 1327, prompting potential further savings if numbers fall more. Classes start August 24.
