Doc Cumbie Jr. a retired safety coordinator from Lyondell in Sheldon and U S Navy Korean War veteran died Thursday at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston. Born February 11 1933 in Richmond Virginia he lived in Liberty and Dayton and was a member of First Assembly of God Church Huffman Masonic Lodge VEW Post 5621 and Magnolia Park Cemetery. He is survived by wife Thelma daughter Pamela and her husband Jimmy son Berkley III sister Joyce Ann and brother Phillip.
Police investigated a shoplifting at a pharmacy on Garth Road around 6 30 pm Saturday. Two suspects loaded a cart with ink cartridges valued at more than 700 dollars and left without paying.
Police stopped a vehicle Saturday night for a traffic violation at Missouri and New York streets. The driver, a Baytown man, was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Two passengers were arrested for possession of 5.5 grams of marijuana and minor in possession of alcohol.
