Baytown Optimists shaped youth stars and lifelong mentors
Dippel remains active with the youth league where his son Ryan enters his last Optimist season. Darren Enderli, a 1970s Sterling player who reached state and regional finals, also started in Optimists and coached his son Tyler and daughter Brittany. Both praise the league for teaching pads, discipline, and character. Enderli notes its coaches are a rare, aging breed.
