Baytown Emergency Management reports July 1986 rainfall averaged 1.03 inches across 10 stations, far below the normal 4.12 inches. Tusch named to Exxon post at Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant

Exxon Chemical Americas officials name Robert L. Tusch as Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant manager succeeding Del Stover who retired Aug. 1. A Grand Rapids native, Tusch earned a chemical engineering degree from Michigan Technological University and joined Exxon in 1957. He has since held roles in Linden New York City Baytown and Baton Rouge and was Elastomers Division manager at Exxon’s Baton Rouge Chemical Plant before moving to Mont Belvieu.

City issues 55 permits for new construction

Baytown officials issued 55 permits in July for new construction valued at 2.32 million dollars. The July total trails June and May, as year‑to‑date construction lags the 1985 pace. seven months show 12.95 million dollars in new construction with 92 thousand dollars in permit fees collected, against last year’s 122 thousand.
