Wife Loses Purse With Hubby's Pay
Mrs. A. F. Cook of La Porte reported losing her husband’s about $150 in cash Tuesday at the Press store in Bay Lawn. She left the purse on the counter while shopping and found it missing after returning to her car. The purse contained only cash and no ID. She offered a $100 reward and said the finder may keep the rest. Cook is a part time Texas State game warden.

Shore Acres plans phone line upgrades in La Porte addition
Southwestern Bell officials announced work to convert eight party lines in the Shore Acres district to four and two party lines. The change affects about 160 residents and will not alter present rates. The project began in February.
