City Attorney George Chandler will continue serving as judge of the Corporation Court for at least another week. City Council, after reviewing nine applicants for the judgeship, approved a two week Naval Reserve activation period for Chandler from September 38 to 24. Meyer J A Ward urged careful qualification review, while Chandler warned acting as judge may look bad as caseload grows and proposed a temporary city employee fill the post until a permanent successor to E E Hunter is chosen. Lee Heights residents were assured the city would relocate eight inch sewer lines to stop septic tank overflow into Mayon Street. Ed Tozer 67 Dies of Heart Attack at Home
Ed Tozer age sixty seven died of a heart attack in his living room at 613 South Whiting. He had worked as a building contractor and insulator in Cameio Bay and recently supervised the concrete work at the Pruett Building opened today. He suffered heart ailments for years and awoke during the night to seek relief in his chair. Funeral services are set for 2 pm Sunday at Paul W Lee Funeral Home with Rev Archie W Fleming officiating. Burial at San Jacinto Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Mrs Clara Tozer of Baytown and brother Albert Claude Tozer of Abilene. Pallbearers are Baytown contractors W J Dalpes A N Marvick John N Mixon David Maxwell E Morrow and A Tavary.

Injured As Hot Rod Rolls Falls Apart
Two McNairbers were critically injured in a late yesterday accident when a hot rod skidded, broke apart, and rolled into a six foot ditch at the Jones and Slade Roads intersection. James Harvey Johnsson, 12, suffered a broken left leg, possible left arm fracture, facial gash, and multiple bruises. Hervey Daie Seale, 18, owner of the old model car, suffers possible internal injuries and multiple bruises. Both were taken to San Jacinto Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Deputies Brown and Anderson investigated, saying the car slid on Wade Road, then fell apart as it rolled into the ditch.

House votes to criminalize hoarding in wartime bill
