Baytown Forecast Sees Clouds and Showers Ahead

The Baytown area foresees partly cloudy skies with a 20 percent chance of thundershowers Thursday night and a 40 percent chance Friday. Temperatures will drop to the low 70s Thursday night and near 90 on Friday. A Wednesday to Thursday period recorded a low of 68 and a high of 95 degrees.

Heather Harp a 9 year old from Mont Belvieu Texas is one of two Texas delegates entering barrel racing and pole bending in the 13th Annual American Junior Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show in Tulsa Oklahoma. She ranks third nationally in her youth division based on year long scores and has traveled over 30000 miles to events in Texas Louisiana and Oklahoma.

HL&P weatherization helps Baytown low income residents

About 100 fixed income residents in Baytown have benefited from Houston Lighting & Power Co. weatherization efforts. HL&P covers about 75 per house, with work including window caulking, weather stripping, water heater insulation, and outlet foam barriers. EPA ruling could change Exxon Baytown refinery operations

EPA orders to cut lead in regular gasoline to 0.1 gram per gallon by January 1, 1986 may cause spot shortages and upward price pressure. Exxon says many refiners will need new facilities. Baytown, Baton Rouge, and Bayway plants run as one unit with about 2,000 workers and 150000 barrels per day. Leaded gas is about one third of Exxon sales, and the company will study impacts before decisions on Baytown.
