Texas Petroleum Funds Public Education And State Tax Mix
Texas oil and gas industry paid 29 percent of education costs and 36 percent of state franchise taxes in 1967, with total state taxes from petroleum about 262 million dollars an increase of 15 million from 1966. Production taxes on oil and gas rose to 140.6 and 78.3 million respectively. The industry funded the Permanent School Fund and University Fund via leases, bonuses, and royalties. Texas claimed leadership as a major producer since 1925 with vast oil output and revenue.

Brando Castanada annulment headlines marriage custody
The eight year union of Marlon Brando and Movita Castenada was annulled in a closed court hearing with Castenada granted custody of their two children Sergio and Rebecca. Brando previously wed Castenada in 1940 and had a prior marriage to Anna Mazhi. Details of the property settlement were not disclosed. In New York, Stephen Pote celebrated his fianc asks for marriage after placing a birthday ad in the New York Times. In Los Angeles Jane Russell divorced her actor husband who filed a cross complaint alleging habitual intemperance. Russell gained custody of her adopted children Thames and Tracy, while Waterfield received custody of Robert, with homes awarded to each party.
