Last REL Class of 1987 Faces Fire and Rebuilds
James Kingsmill recalls the Robert E. Lee High School fire of April 29 1987 and the rapid move to Sterling High School for finals and prom. The Ganders defeated Sterling 20 14 to secure a playoff berth, then lost 36 14 in the bi district. Graduations were rained out, Lee’s campus damaged, and the class of 1987 became the last seniors of the original REL.
