Picnic honors pediatric cancer patients and community donors
The annual picnic organized by Civic Pride and Baytown Optimist Club honors pediatric cancer patients with support from Eastside Honda and local volunteers. Susan Whitt noted the event offers therapy benefits by giving children a break from hospital routine, while Ralph Oler praised community involvement and the joy seen in the kids. The event, started five years ago by Calvin Evans before his 2003 passing, continues as a tribute to his idea and aims to keep children in a normal social setting outside the hospital.
