Baytown Youth Fair champions hit center stage at auction
At the 56th Baytown Youth Fair and Livestock Show at Baytown Fairgrounds, Goose Creek students displayed livestock, crafts, and metalwork. Jayce Howard, a Ross S. Sterling High School junior, won the grand champion steer, selling for 25,000 dollars to Bayshore Chrysler Jeep Dodge, the highest price yet. Howard aims for Sam Houston State University then veterinary school at Texas A&M. Macy Farmer of Goose Creek Memorial High School won grand champion in rabbit and earned 2,750 dollars, plus 1,900 in crafts sold to Ron Craft Chevrolet. The event raised about 250,000 dollars overall with strong participation despite a turkey-disruption and bird flu impact on the hatchery.
