Eddie Cleveland remembered for acts of kindness in Pelly
In a Baytown era addendum, Eddie Cleveland the pharmacist and first Baytown mayor is remembered for generosity and community service. He ran Leggett's Drug Store on West Main, aided sick neighbors at midnight, mixed remedies, and offered low price ice cream while supporting students and local leaders in consolidating the Tri-Cities.

Local musicians save young girl's life on Texas 146
At 8 am on a Saturday in March, Mean Gene Kelton and Russell Shelby of Mean Gene Kelton and The Die Hards stopped to help a car trapped under a bridge near the Highway 197 overpass. They found 16-year-old Claire Dennis inside, conscious but hurt, after she escaped and circled the vehicle. Russell urged calling 911 and both musicians acted without regard for their safety to aid her.
