Baytown hosts a Thursday night coffee attended by about 35 people at Mr. and Mrs. Roy Comeau's home to discuss constitutional revision. State Rep. Joe Allen spoke on automobile insurance reform and consumer protection, engaging informally with attendees.
Wilnic Robertson a Baytown native and REL graduate runs as a Democrat for Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. He has four years in the comptroller’s office and supports a personal income tax while opposing food sale tax redemptions. Robertson emphasizes fiscal restraint and merit-based hiring.
Funeral services for Zelma Stacey Burns 62 of 1101 Stowe will be held 1 30 p m Saturday at Greater St John Baptist Church the Rev Milton McGaskey officiating. She died Sunday and is survived by her husband the Rev Wallace Burns of Baytown six daughters and five sons plus twenty four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Burial will be in Walter Brown Cemetery under Johnson and Frazier Funeral Home directing.
Col Nolan Rhodes announces a 111786 dollar contract for dredging the Anahuac Channel and the Liberty channel. Mike Hooks Inc of Lake Charles La to perform work from May to late June restoring six foot depth by 100 foot width across about 3.5 miles and removing roughly 317000 cubic yards of material as part of the Trinity River project.
