Stocks rise on strong earnings and oil fears

U.S. stocks edged higher as Yahoo and United Technologies posted solid results easing inflation worries briefly. The Dow rose 10.00 to 11,278.77, S&P 500 gained 2.28 to 1,309.93, and Nasdaq climbed 14.74 to 2,370.88 amid gains in energy and materials despite higher oil prices and persistent rate fears.
