Funeral services were held Monday for Hetty Mears a Baytown resident of 42 who died Sunday afternoon. Interment followed at Earthman Chapel Cemetery with husband Dewey Mears and several siblings among survivors including Ada Morris and ALO Rutherford of Port Arthur and Tom Jivan of High Island and Zack Yoakum of Sabine Pass.

Baytown Housing Board overhaul triggers retirements
Mayor Lee Liggett replaced the three principal officers of the Baytown Housing Authority Board of Commissioners Monday. Burt J. Davison J. Rodger Read and CL Thorpe will be succeeded by Wesley Woods RB L Bob Martin and C Williams. The retiring members say they have not been notified. Terms expired Friday. The board had just arranged with the Federal Housing Authority to build 50 new low rent units for the elderly behind Holly Inn Motel and near Archer Courts. Fort Worth FHA approved plans and construction was slated soon. Two long serving members remain on the five member board with terms not expired.
