Baytown Approves Flood Maps and Amends Ordinance
Baytown council amended the flood ordinance to align with the National Flood Insurance Program. New construction in Special Flood Hazard Areas must be 24 inches above base flood elevation or flood-proofed, and single family homes on pier and beam foundations may be raised in the future. A Coastal AE Flood Zone was created expanding boundaries about 600 feet in Lakewood subdivision. Williams noted the biggest impact in Lakewood and Southwest Addition, with more properties now in the flood plain and potentially requiring flood insurance for mortgaged homes.

Anahuac pioneers figure in re-enactment of Chambers death
The Anahuac community plans a staged remembrance of General Chambers with a balcony scene, a 1865 home tour, and a gun salute by Hood's Brigade. The event features music, sound effects by the middle school honor society, and displays of Chambers belongings. The case remains a historical mystery with ties to land disputes and a 1925 legislative payout to heirs.
