Baytown Dispatch Center Keeps City Safe 24 Hours
Yznaga explains 12 hour shifts for five dispatchers who rotate duties for police, fire, and 911 calls. She recalls emotional 911 calls, a toddler death tied to abuse, and firefighter Nito Guajardo’s 2004 fatal blaze. Dispatchers multitask across five screens, coordinate responders, and offer reassurance while not giving step by step CPR. The team emphasizes group effort and commitment to Baytown residents.
