Five Baytown Residents Hurt In Accidents
Five Baytown residents were injured, three seriously, in traffic accidents this week end. Patricia Bowen, Margie Collins, and Johnny Thompson are hospitalized with facial injuries, an ankle injury, and head injuries. Glendall Jones and Donald Gerey sustained minor scratches and bruises after a two car collision near Market Street Road. Thompson and Collins were eastbound from Kemah when their car overturned near La Porte. A separate incident on Market Street Road near Death Bridge saw driver W Wheatley escape death twice in seconds, then swim to shore and be treated at a hospital before continuing to Houston.

James Sherwood Ott 47 former advertising manager of The Baytown Sun died after a seven year health battle. A native of Mexico and UT graduate, Ott lived in Baytown since 1923 and helped found the Baytown News Herald before joining the Sun. He is survived by his wife, son Donald, and three sisters. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at the Paul U. Lee chapel with interment at Smithville.
