Retired Department of Public Safety Trooper Brian Hawthorne announced at his retirement party that he will run as a Republican for Chambers County sheriff, seeking to replace incumbent Joe LaRive who is not seeking re-election. Storms swept through Texas and the Midwest bringing high winds and hail. The National Weather Service and Chambers County warn of a hazardous weather system likely impacting southeast Texas from late today into Monday with showers and thunderstorms along a cold front and potential severe storms north of I 10 Sunday afternoon.

Baytown City Council approved the annexation of property between Garth Road Interstate 10 North Main Street and Cedar Bayou Lynchburg Road. The plan includes a small additional area in Chambers County at Highway 99 Kilgore Park Way. About 89 homes are in the newly incorporated strip. residents largely opposed the move citing process concerns and regulatory impact.
