The Washburn Tunnel linking Pasadena and Galena Park will close at 7 a.m. Monday for repairs with reopening expected in early fall. Baytown school trustees meet Monday to approve the elementary summer program from June 2 to June 26 with classes 8 30 a m to noon at five elementary campuses and no tuition. A SAC appeal hearing is delayed. policy updates on graduation rules and discipline are eyed alongside school improvements and resignations.
Autopsy concluded Patsy Howell died from septicemia and peritonitis after liposuction at Dr Hugo Ramirez Pasadena clinic. Another patient Patricia Rogers also contracted infection. Ramirez’s license temporarily lifted while investigators pursue actions. Legal action continues as families sue Ramirez. hearing set May 18.
Baytown's city ambulance service, launched Nov 15 with 12 staff and three vehicles, is reachable by dialing 911. Health Director Howard Brister notes underuse and ongoing Medicare billing setup as forms move toward direct billing, with eight paramedics now on staff and two new graduates. The service operates from City Hall Annex and will move to the old Gulf and Main fire station.
