Texas Senate passes high school steroid testing bill
The Senate approved a measure to test about 22 000 public school athletes for steroids starting next fall, with a 30 day suspension for a first positive, a one year ban after a second, and permanent ban after a third. The bill costs about 4 million dollars a year and requires student consent to be tested. House action mirrors funding differences, proposing ticket fees to cover costs.
