An explosion at an unoccupied Deer Park house during renovation sent two Houston floor finishers to area hospitals. Calvin Schultz, 38, severely burned on face and limbs, and Hermin Johnson, 48, with second degree burns, suffered in the flash fire. Neighbor R. Boathhead alerted Deer Park Fire Department. workers attempted to douse flames with naphtha, but Schultz’s clothing ignited.

Gorman Announces Run for Baytown School Board Seat No 4
T P Gorman a Baytown Refinery research technician filed Friday as a candidate for Baytown school board Position No 4 opposing incumbent L L Fuller who had run unopposed. Gorman 44 lives at 2301 Alabama has studied at Lee College and is active in Elles lodge. He was born in Morgan City Louisiana and worked as an electronics technician in New Orleans before moving to Baytown. He helped install the first police radio in New Orleans in 1932. He and his wife have a daughter James who will graduate from the University of Texas in June. Other candidates for Position No 3 include Boyd Hill Lee Tag and Dr W H Bridges.

Burglar charges were lodged Friday against Mod Hawkins 23 suspected of burgling several Barrett Settlement near Heth in custody at city jail. A sleeping man reported to deputies that an ab-be prowler climbed over his window Wednesday to take his watch and ring.
