Baytown police await test results to determine cause of a fatal traffic crash around 11 a.m. Wednesday on Business 146 at Wismer Drive. The victim was 23-year-old Stephen Wiggins Jr. of Pasadena. Dayton woman Estep has beaten cancer once and aims to beat it again after a September 2003 mastectomy and years of chemotherapy and drug treatment at M. D. Anderson. She describes a family history of cancer and a sister who died of inflammatory breast cancer.
Estep recalls her initial cancer diagnosis and emotional journey while undergoing treatment at M. D. Anderson. She describes fear as not overpowering but the need to process emotion and plan steps, noting the challenge of losing control and the importance of allowing tears. The state's largest fundraising event for 11th straight year runs 6 p.m. Friday April 13 to 8 a.m. Saturday April 14 at Royal Purple Raceway Park, 2525 South FM 565. The event brings together participants and sponsors to raise funds for cancer research and support programs.
