Relay for Life aims to beat cancer with community support
Leila Bates notes a steady 20 percent annual rise in participation as Relay for Life nears its Texas event’s closing ceremonies. St Laurent highlights ongoing treatment hope, while organizers stress cancer prevention through exercise and nutrition. The event trails a $410,000 goal with about $61,800 raised so far, continuing since Gordy Klatt’s 1985 Tacoma 24-hour walk that inspired the national effort.
