Goose Creek District Shows Lowest Net Debt Ratio Among Local Schools

Stark Denounces Board Probe Recommendation In Baytown letter

In a letter to the Texas Education Agency copies went to Baytown trustees requesting a full scale investigation of the school district after Dr. Raymiand C. Wilson of the Southern Association urged review. Board President A. R. Von Stark questioned timing and said outside influence should not sway the April 3 trustee election. He noted Wilson’s visit March 23 23 and Wilson warned a later graded probe might occur after the association meeting in June.

Camden marches halted by smoke bombs amid Alabama unrest

In Camden Alabama a Negro voter drive met violence as smoke bombs stopped a march and dynamite damaged a Negro home in Birmingham. Bombs targeted Mayor Bouwell and Council member Migtonico but were defused. The Camden Academy school faced boycott action and protests. Wilder's Services Scheduled Friday

Funeral services for Elmer Lawrence Wilder 37 of Baytown will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Paul A. Lee Funeral Home. He died Wednesday in a local nursing home. Johnson seeks funds for Saigon embassy building

President Johnson asked Congress for 1 million dollars to swiftly construct a U S Embassy chancery in Saigon. He said the project shows the United States will not be deterred by terrorist acts or the murder of civilians and destruction of civilian property in Vietnam. The plan envisions a building either complete or as the first stage of a larger chancery to replace the one bombed earlier, which killed 20 people.
