A chatty column recalls visits from Donald Mac Leod and family from Edinburg Scotland to Colorado camp sites and golf in Iowa. It mentions museum trips to Grand Island Nebr and the Stuhr Museum, a Jamaica Journal purchase, a wedding in June, local ads, and a Farm Bureau tour planned to Pioneer Village Minden Nebr and the Eisenhower Library Abilene.
Mr and Mrs Hubert Knight of Hot Springs Ark arrived Friday for a two week stay in the area. Belated birthday celebrations hosted by C F Greenfield Jerry and Don Phelps were noted along with numerous family visits and open houses including the Adamson golden wedding anniversary in Grand Junction. Several guests from Adel Coon Rapids and Manning joined host families for meals and socializing.
Mrs Tom Moylan Mrs Merle Moylan and Mrs Lucy Bonnesen hosted Mrs Evelyn Burrhus at Mister D's Glidden on Wednesday evening. Earlier Mrs Burrhus and Mrs Bonnesen dined with Mrs Moylan on Monday. The gatherings were courtesy events as Mrs Burrhus prepared to move to Des Moines on Tuesday.
A Guthrie Center cafe dinner Friday honored Frank Botts with attendance by Mr and Mrs Cliff Pulver Joe Mrs L E Stiles Mrs Wayde Freesh Joe Ewing and Mr and Mrs Botts. The Pulver home hosted the evening with Mrs Raymond Anderson serving. GlIenn Greenlee Honored in a surprise September celebration in Scranton and Guthrie Center family members attended.
Carol Jackson daughter of Eleanor Sheer Bayard and William F Jackson Omaha Neb and Benny Sease son of Mr and Mrs Cecil Sease Bayard united in marriage Saturday August 23 at 7 pm in Bayard United Methodist Church. Reverend A Keith Hauser officiated the double ring candlelight ceremony. The reception followed for over 200 guests with a mint green ivory themed decor and a three tier cake. After a short honeymoon the couple will reside in Bayard.
Mr and Mrs Harold Curl and Mr and Mrs William Olesen of Bayard announce the September 1 wedding of their children Norma Curl and Donald Olesen. The ceremony took place at the home of Mr and Mrs R EF Curl, grandparents of the bride, with attendants Mrs Terry Buttler and Jeffery Olesen.
Attendees included Jess Vaughan and Mr and Mrs Richard Vaughan and Mrs Marion Vaughan and Mrs Sue Ayers at the Lutheran church in Hamlin Saturday evening. The groom Jeff Sheeder is son of the Howard Sheeders of Guthrie Center and grandson of Jess Vaughan.
Mrs Bonita Ocheltree and Mrs Charles Peters hosted a Sunday dinner in Guthrie Center honoring Mrs Peters cousin Mrs Hall family friend. The occasion marked Mrs Peters 93rd birthday on September 10 with related social visits and church community events across Scranton Panora Adel and Coon Rapids.
United Methodist Church in Guthrie Center lists a special Administrative Board meeting Friday at 8 pm and regular services Sunday. CROP walk committee meets Sunday and Monday with Max Gumm present. youth groups meet Wednesday. Trinity Lutheran Church in Carroll outlines worship and Bible Institute on Sunday, with a wedding rehearsal Thursday and wedding Friday evening for Carol Lucht and Don Brant.
Auburndale couple Al Chevalier and party dined Wednesday at Mister D's in Glidden. Mrs Lyons marked her September 8 birthday while guests included E A Battles Don Brown Ed Lyons Warren Watkins Fred Nance B D Laughery Jim Hagan and Leonard Siedhoff.
Mr and Mrs Bud Adamson of Grand Junction observed their golden wedding with a family dinner at the American Legion Hall and an open house at St Bridget's Catholic Church on Sunday. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Tom Thomas and Holly and Tara of Clinton, Mr and Mrs Walter Ebersole and Kris of Bayard, Mrs Hugh Chase and Mrs Ilda Orr of Ridgecrest, Calif, and Mrs Lola Smith of Wilcox Ariz. Families noted sister relationships and a brother Pat. Out of town guests stayed in Grand Junction and with the Ebersoles. Mrs Ebersole and Mrs Thomas drove out-of-staters to Des Moines airport Tuesday.
Mr and Mrs Howard Fell and Gary visited Mrs C L Jones and Mrs Hazle Holliday for a Sunday dinner.
Ascension Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids lists Sunday School at 9 15 am and worship at 10 30 am Pastor Keith Piller. Circle meetings include Rebecca Circle Sept 16 at Jan Reinicke s 7 30 pm Joy Circle Sept 17 at 9 am and Faith Circle 2 pm New Bayard Circle 7 30 pm plus Coon Valley News at St Johns 9 30 am.
Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid held a September 4 meeting at 7 30 p m in the church with Pastor Purdy and Vivian Kanzmier leading devotions on Who is God. Pearl Knoll presided. nominating committee was formed. guest speaker Mrs Marvin Johnson spoke on Tool For You.
Judy Myers of Omaha and Ron Beaver with his fiancee Esther ville were weekend guests of Mr and Mrs Marvin Shackelford and family. Jim Darcey Cindy and Kurt also visited. Judy is a niece and Ron a nephew of Mrs Shackelford. Mr and Mrs C F Delaplain of Menlo were Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs Frank Phelps and family.
