A humorous column recounts a Blue Point Himalayan female cat causing trouble for the L J Anderson family of Bayard. It lists visits and social rounds across Bayard Coon Rapids Extra Guthrie County hospital status for Mr Miles, plus hospitality events involving the Harvey families and local residents.
The Anderson family lost their rare St Teresa cat after an earlier interstate drive to Wellman and Brooklyn. A picture was distributed, a radio announcement made, and a reward offered. The cat was found Monday evening unharmed aside from dirt and four pounds lost.
Mrs William Grettenberg was taken by ambulance to St Anthony hospital in Carroll Tuesday of last week. Ed Brookbank of Coon Rapids became a resident last week and was visited by his wife and others. Rev James King conducted a worship service. Edith Reid spent days at home to vote and hosted relatives. Several locals visited the home and joined in activities, including Sunday school groups from Bayard Methodist Church and bouquets of red roses for residents.
Rev Dale M Bass leads Bayard and Wichita churches with worship at 11 am and 9 30 am respectively. Church School at 9 45 am and 10 30 am. Annual Bazaar food sale and supper on Nov 19. Nov 20 Louis Aults reports on National Family Life Conference. Nov 22 Bayard education meeting at 2 pm. Evening services Nov 19 Wichita 7 30 pm and Nov 23 Bayard 7 30 pm.
The Lutheran church in Trinity lists events with Pastor Theodore Hoffermann. Thursday Nov 17 Sunday School Teachers meet at 8 pm. Sunday Nov 20 Worship Service 9 30 am Sunday School and Bible classes 10 30 am. Monday Nov 21 Children's instruction for grades 5 to 8 at 7 pm.
Mr and Mrs Wayne Crosier attended the Junior class Play in Coon Rapids Tuesday night. Their grandson Darrell Crosier was a member of the cast.
Mr and Mrs Wayne Crosier visited their daughter Joan a senior at Northeast Missouri State University. They attended Sigma Kappa Mother Daughter festivities a football game with a halftime show by the KSTC marching band and K Dettes. Joan received the President Ryle trophy for top GPA and was named Philanthropist of her sorority. a Shamrock Inn banquet marked her twenty first birthday.
Dinner in the Midway Buffet Guthrie Center Thursday evening celebrated Lloyd Stiles birthday. Attending were Cliff and, Pulver, Clara Dozier, Audrey Wislinger, Wayde Freesh, Joe Pulver, Frank Botts, and the Stiles family. Friday guests from Moline Illinois joined Mrs Hall's parents for the birthday event with Rev Dale Bass, culminating in ice cream and a decorated cake.
Mr and Mrs Cliff Tuel hosted a Sunday dinner at Mickeys Half Way House to honor their son in law Dwain Myers. Guests included Mr and Mrs Myers and family members Dick Becky Kathy, Mr and Mrs Jack Tuel and Joni Julie Jimi, and Ralph Edwards. Mrs Myers later hosted a chili supper and card party for further honoring her husband with guests Dean Hicks Wayne Brown Dick Oswald Eugene Phelps Dean Schoon and Jack Tuel.
Mrs Jim McAlister was honored at a home coffee Thursday morning in celebration of her birthday. Guests included Mrs Harold Fiscus Linda and Craig Mrs Dick Gettler Julie Janet Mrs Matt Murrane Mrs Jerry Stone Janelle and the McAlister children Jimmy Kathy and Marilee. Gettler was served with coffee.
David McCool celebrated his thirteenth birthday with a supper on Saturday hosted by Mr and Mrs Paul McCool. Guests included David, Tommy and Paula McCool, Maurice Wetzel, Steven Wetzel, Lonnie Kinnick who joined for Sunday dinner, and Bruce Hall who visited in the afternoon.
Mr and Mrs Wilbur Pickett entertained at a bridal shower for Mrs Craig Wallace of Stuart in their Guthrie Center home Sunday afternoon. Mrs Wallace is a niece of Mrs Pickett. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Paul McClellan, Mrs Cecile Buckmaster, Mr and Mrs John McClellan of Bayard, Mr and Mrs Duane McClellan of Omaha, Mr and Mrs Lyle McClellan and Curtis of Des Moines, and Janice McClellan of Ames.
Mr and Mrs Richard Huffaker hosted a Sunday supper honoring their grandson Perry Tague on his first birthday. Guests included Mr and Mrs Don Tague Debbie and Perry and Mr and Mrs Chet Vaughan and Randy.
Miss Charlene Scheuermann of Des Moines was honored at a bridal shower in the Fellowship Hall of the Bayard Methodist church. Guests included her mother and relatives. decorations featured royal blue and Kelly green with white lace and flowers. Music, readings, and gifts preceded smorgasbord refreshments served by the hostesses and Mrs Parker.
A Sunday afternoon baby shower for Kelli Jo Jacobsen was hosted at her aunt Mrs Merle Kent Shand’s home. Hostesses Mrs Charles Evans and Mrs Don Tague assisted. Pink and white decorations brightened the event with gifts displayed in a doll cradle. Kelli’s mother Mrs Mark Jacobsen and aunt Mrs Phil Jacobsen opened gifts. Refreshments followedt the color theme. Favors were nut cups with safety pin storks.
Zetta Lewis of Guthrie Center was a weekend guest of Mr and Mrs Earl Lewis. They and Mr and Mrs Ross Jurgens and Tammy were Sunday dinner guests of Lessie Lewis.
