Local entries recount neighborly acts, holiday travel, and snow battles. Des Moines governors, Iowa neighbors, and Des Moines Library events are noted along with birthdays, anniversaries, and social visits in a small town round up.
Mrs Ted Hupp hosted a Friday afternoon courtesy for Mrs Cecile Buckmaster who moved to Denver. Guests included Mesdames E A Starling A E Calvert Mary Calvert Roy Adrian Lawrence Wolf Winfred Barrett and Nellie Nelson with refreshments served.
Mr and Mrs Dale Deeth and family hosted Cindy Deeth’s eighteenth birthday supper with guests from Scranton Coon Rapids and nearby towns. In Guthrie Center Mr and Mrs Ward McClellan Jr hosted Wayne Halterman’s birthday with family and friends. Des Moines and Coon Rapids hosts joined for a grilled steak supper honoring Mr Halterman.
Wayne Halterman entertained his wife David and Heidi at supper in the South Side Lounge in Coon Rapids Saturday evening. Mrs Halterman was honored for her birthday.
Bayard Church of Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church list services and events for Sunday February 9 and midweek sessions. Bayard Church of Christ lists Bible school worship youth and evening study times. Trinity Lutheran notes Sunday School Bible Institute information meeting weekday school and Ash Wednesday service.
Sunday school at 9 15 am and weekly circles meet through February with Ash Wednesday service and Holy Communion at 7 30 pm. ALCW General Meeting on February 13 features Joy Circle program host Erna Anna Circle. Social notices report Mr and Mrs Duane Sheer hosting Abbie Dillinger celebration with guests Mr and Mrs Dick Stone and Mrs A W Hall at a Thursday evening event.
Pastor Keith Hauser leads a Sunday schedule with church school at 9 45 worship at 11 a m a special children sermon with gifts and a six week meditation on the disciples Philip and Bartholomew banners made by Ladies of the church. An afternoon evangelism seminar at St Marys Guthrie Center and a Sunday night supper at the parsonage followed by a Lent study Edge of Adventure. Administrative Board meets at 8 p m.
Mrs Bob Neuerburg and family from Hayward Calif were Monday supper and overnight guests of Mr and Mrs Bill Caraher along with Mark John Colleen and Maureen for a social visit.
The Ging Jack family expresses gratitude to all who made possible the new radio for Bagley Rescue Unit and to those who contributed memorial gifts toward a track for the YJB school. They offer heartfelt thanks.
