A Guthrie County event featured the PTA serving food, students selling snacks, and halves entertainment including a 15 piece school band and impromptu acts by school officials led by President Leo Ellis. The write up also praises juvenile delinquency efforts and coverage of Ames explorations on WRNT CBS networks.
William Stock, Pastor leads Thursday Ladies Aid at 2 pm and Mens club at 8 pm. Saturday Bible school at 9 am. Sunday Divine service at 10 am with Sunday school and Bible class at 11 am. Walther League bowling party in Jefferson meets at the church between 6 and 6 15 pm.
Church of Christ announces Bible school and Young Peoples Meeting led by A K Miller. Communion and preaching followed by 7 pm meeting, evening service at 7 30 pm, and mid week Bible study Wednesday at 7 30 pm.
Miss Ann Hoit daughter of Mr and Mrs Howard Hoit of Bayard wed Lawrence L Madsen Second Class Petty Officer US Navy son of Mrs Laura Madsen of Coon Rapids in the Bayard Methodist church. The ceremony featured lavender snapdragons daffodils and yellow carnations with a single ring rite read by Rev Willard Peterson. The couple will reside in Rhode Island after a brief home period.
Mr and Mrs Dean Curl and children of Des Moines and Mr and Mrs Harold Curl and children visited Sunday dinner with Mr and Mrs Ralph Curl.
Mr and Mrs Fred Watson celebrated their silver wedding anniversary with a January 26 reception at Greenbrier church parlors. Ninety relatives and friends attended as the couple, married January 26 1983 in Greenbrier church, were honored by children Carl Ames Janice Strawn Bayard Judith at home and Warren Miller. A pink carnation boutonniere and corsage, four tier pink and silver cake, and silver decorated tea table framed the open house hosted by Mrs William Booth. Guests enjoyed punch served by Mrs Carroll Bryan and Mrs John Lockwood while coffee service ran for Mrs Merle Buchan and Mrs Victor Lyons. Assisting were Mrs Russell Naylor Mrs Horace Hedges Mrs Paul Booth and several others including Carole Booth Susan Naylor Connie Booth Jeri Taylor JoAnn Hedges.
Mr and Mrs Bert Mercer visited the Dale Myers home in Bagley on Thursday. Mr and Mrs Howard Boots and Jimmy of Guthrie Center visited Mr and Mrs Carl Boots on Sunday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Fred Betts left Sunday for a week at Clear Lake.
Guthrie Center residents Mr and Mrs Walter Friese were celebrated Sunday at their home for a surprisefortieth wedding anniversary. Attending from Bayard were Mr and Mrs John McCool Mr and Mrs W M Slaybaugh Mr and Mrs Arden Patterson Mr and Mrs Kenneth Bryan Mr and Mrs Cecil Crees Mr and Mrs Harold Sumner and Mr and Mrs Carl Stiller of Coon Rapids.
Me and Mrs Chris Schumacher of Coon Rapids celebrate sixty years of marriage with an open house at the Coon Rapids Library. Attendees from Bayard include Mr and Mrs Henry Schick, Mrs Emmette Stofer, Mr and Mrs Fred Esslinger, and Mrs Raymond Schwartz.
Mrs Verne Tobay hosted guests including her sister in Rapids yesterday. Mrs Bagley, Mrs John King, and another attendee were part of the visit, with details showing a social gathering at the Tobay residence.
