Three armed men rode to town on a wet afternoon and entered the Baxter National Bank. They forced Brewster, Michener, and Murphy into the vault, loaded cash into a sack, and fled on fast horses after breaking the rural wires. A posse pursued but failed. one revolver was recovered and insurance covered losses.
