Joplin Missouri August 27 1910 Citizens along the Flying Squadron route welcomed the touring cars carrying twelve boosters as part of promoting the Ozark Interstate Exposition to be held October 8 to 17. The effort aims to represent the Middle West and attract possibly 500000 visitors. Additional expeditions and rail committees are planned to extend outreach to remoter areas.

Credit Shut Off Threatens Missouri Mining Mills
Iris reports managers of supply houses across the mining district agreed to cash only sales to firms not covering operating costs. A mining figure predicts the credit withdrawal could shut down about fifty mills in the sheet ground area of Missouri. Elwood Newkirk of Lowell Kansas, age about twenty two, died August 27 after a typhoid illness. He worked as an electric car motorman and funeral services were conducted by Rev. L M Rhoades. Burial followed at Lowell cemetery.
